I'm surprised they haven't touched on this topic before now. Where I use to work we had a couple of people that had full time jobs yet were still homeless, living in shelters. It's one of my biggest fears.

She was first introduced to the series in 2011 where she explained that her family was experiencing food insecurity -- they didn't have enough to eat.

I'm surprised they haven't touched on this topic before now. Where I use to work we had a couple of people that had full time jobs yet were still homeless, living in shelters. It's one of my biggest fears.

My folks and I would spend weeks, sometimes even months on end living in hotels just until we could find somewhere else to move to. I remember one such occasion, one day, when my parents were both off taking care of errands, I literally ran around our hotel room, belting out "Cabin Fever" at the top of my lungs, just for some relief.

Depending on the hotel or the accommodations, we were lucky enough to at least have access to a swimming pool: that'd allow me a couple of hours of recreation, and give my mom some time to herself; meanwhile, my dad would continue to go to work, which offered him some normalcy during the day.

I had someone that worked for me that lived in a shelter. Worked as a cashier. Decent worker, did what was asked of him, would help out and was willing to work extra hours. He never stole money as he never had shortages on his registers, but after I transferred to another store he was spotted taking a snack off the shelf and eating it without paying. He did it right in front of the LP manager for the district that was visiting. They fired him on the spot.

I wish I had known he was doing it before it got to LP as I would have just spoken to him about it and helped him out, knowing his situation. The LP for this particular company actually enjoyed firing people. I get why they did what they did, but all things considered there should have been something else they could do. That store threw out more expired snacks than he ever took. But the store was running over payroll and any excuse to terminate someone and save money was used. I do not miss that place.

Ah, Sofia is back, I see. She seems to show up whenever they touch on heavy topics. I wonder if it's because these are filmed in between seasons, so none of the regular cast members are available, or if she's a child therapist or something.
