Went to Friendly's for lunch and bowled.

I'll be honest. I'm not a big fan of the patty melts. The bread really ruined it for me. :smirk:

Wait, that's a real place? I thought they just made it up for FTB to contrast Oscar picking Bad Eat's Don't Drop Inn for supper.

What kind of bread did they use? Most melt sandwiches use Texas toast, which is usually really good. Or, at least, that's usually the kind of bread Waffle House uses for their melts.

....do they seriously not have a Friendly's in Tennessee? :skeptical:

As for the bread, it was sour dough with honey dipped in.... I think the honey is what ruined it for me.

Friendly's is basically nonexistent in the south. There's one in Myrtle Beach though

Okay, yeah, see, honey, for whatever reason, dries out bread and basically turns it into sandpaper.

Nah. If you want a real melt, it has to have Texas toast.

I haven't been to Friendly's in so long, but there's only 1 in New Hampshire and the rest Massachusetts.

I didn't even realize Friendly's was a real place. I thought it was just something they made up as a throw away line in Follow That Bird :embarrassed:.
