I'm curious for any Little Jerry fans.

Which song would you consider their true debut.... Surprise, or Mad?

Some people say the latter since two members (Chrissy and Jerry) have their respective looks at this point, but I consider Surprise their debut because even in Mad, they didn't have their group name yet, and two members already resemble Jeffy and Richard, while the lead singer had Jerry's voice and the dashiki. (Plus, I'm not ignoring the fact that the Exit skit with Grover had Jerry with black hair and Chrissy with a black hat, which I can obviously tell was taped before Mad).

I guess "Mad," because most people, and even Muppet Wiki, claim the "Surprise" singer is an entirely different and separate character unto itself, with no affiliation with Little Jerry or the Monotones (despite also appearing alongside them in Grover's "Walk" insert).

Actually, there was a prototype from Season 1, "Silly Song Time".
The identifiable members involved
Jim- Hippie Grump
Frank-Little Jerry
There were three other hippie muppets, presumably wiggeld by Carroll Spinney, John Lovelady, and Caroly Wilcox. One looked like Roosevelt Franklin in a different shirt.

Little Jerry sat behind the drums, performed by Jim, singing " Spinning Wheel". He also appeared in a few crowd scenes, most notably Frank's little boy character demonstrating Forward and Backward, and getting trampled for his efforts.

It was neat, in those early days, how nothing was set in stone, different performers had Little Jerry on their arm. But once Jerry Nelson came along, he found his voice

If I had read this in 2009/2010 I honestly would have agreed with that, but I just consider them separate characters who just happen to look like each other. But to each their own.

I honestly always considered that to be Chrissy with another haircut compared to his long hair back in the early 70's.... But really, end of the day, the two skits with Grover and their two songs from season 2 had them as just nothing but a bunch of nameless Anything Muppet hippies so all you can do is just guess and speculate.
