Know what I hate? When people ship characters that downright hate each other. Like Kitty Katswell and Dudley Puppy, or Tigress and Po. Though, I'd admit she was probably warming up to him in the second film, but I saw so much of Legend of Awesomeness it's hard to see them not hate each other in that way.
I've been there before. The Hetalia fandom is full of it.

On another note, I really hate the Japanese Super Mario 2 freaks that perpetuate the "American Super Mario 2 isn't the true sequel" nonsense. I blame the oft repeated, never confirmed rumors that they changed the game because American's are stupid and need easier video games. No. These fans only played the polished SNES Lost Levels version, not the glitch filled, impossible, crappy Famicom Disk version. Now, I never really liked the first Mario game. The jump physics were off, the random maze castle levels were gratuitous rather than challenging (not counting Koopa's final castle which is actually kinda fun), and while respectable at the time, it's retrospectively not as ambitious or fun as, say SMB 3.

All I can say is that the Japanese SMB 2 comes off as an abusive fan Rom hack with nothing outside of sheer masochistic challenge that's appealing. Is American SMB 2 a little too easy? Yeah. But is it fun? Frag yeah. And the unique characters were retconned into the series as early as the very next installment. So yeah, culturally, American SMB 2 is the true sequel, it's the creator's true vision as Doki Doki Panic was supposed to be a Mario game at some point.

Plus, if Mario detractors feel the franchise's biggest sin is repetitiveness, Japanese SMB 2 doesn't exactly help against that case.

Speaking of Mario, Rosalina has some annoying fans. They all think that she should be the main character and that she's God's (Miyamoto's?) gift to man, and think that the other princesses like Peach and Daisy should all die. And sometimes, they hate Peach and Daisy because of some (awesome) fan-made comic called the 3 Little Princesses, even though IT ISN'T CANON! I never played Super Mario Galaxy the whole way through, but I know Rosalina's story is sad, and that's a good reason to like her. But they also call Daisy a Peach clone, when Rosalina is basically like Peach but with emo hair and a green nightgown! Plus, Daisy gets an excuse for looking similar, because they're cousins (Rosalina was originally supposed to be related to Peach though…).

Yeah. Or people who ship Platonic Life Partners, mostly because I'm so sick of guy and girl best friends eventually hooking up IN canon. If I had a guy friend who had been my friend since I was a kid, I think dating him would feel like dating my brother (for that matter, I wouldn't want to date any close female friend I had as a kid either, even if any of them were interested; it would just feel weird). I feel like people who constantly ship Platonic Life Partners just encourage writers to do that, because, you know, men and women can NEVER just be close friends...

As a classic 80's Mario fan (which means I actually liked the cartoons), some of the new characters elude me. I haven't had a video game system past the SNES for financial reasons, so I haven't followed this Rosalina. But Daisy I know all and well because they managed to retcon such an obscure character to add more female characters to the franchise. She technically was a clone, or rather an expy because Nintendo had this weird thing about just making a Mario game with characters from other games on Game Boy. Not that it wasn't great, mind you, but they're all banished to the corn fields except for Daisy. No Tatanga, no...eh... Japanese Ghost type things.

I really dislike the idea of gratuitous (for lack of a better term) ship porn. I don't hate the logic and ideas of shipping, but those who are so incredibly obsessed with shipping things that they just ship anything that moves. And yeah, you can totally have platonic relationships with the opposite gender. it has happened.

I really think we need more Tatanga. I mean, how cool would it be to zoom around the Mario Kart tracks in his little spaceship?

What about Wart? He made one comic book appearance outside the video game and that's it. Even the Koopa Kids managed to make a comeback in recent games, even have a series of plush toys that have virtually disappeared. Almost every character and aspect of SMB 2 has been retconned into the Mario universe except him.

I think that maybe Wart looks too similar to Bowser or something.

To me, saying
. And yeah, you can totally have platonic relationships with the opposite gender. it has happened.
I hope it's clear I was being sarcastic in my previous post. I have close friends of both genders who I consider just friends, and nothing more (a lot of them are married or in relationships, and I'm content in my bachelorettehood, but I digress).

I agree! I have friends who are guys who I don't consider to be anything more than just close friends.
