What year does Sherlock Hemlock first appear?

Sherlock Hemlock is the World's Greatest Detective and is the green-colored Anything Muppet. I think he was seen on the episode from 1973 where he performs the X Marks the Spot sketch. I used to watch that Sesame Street Unpaved episode at the Museum of Television & Radio. He appeared on the caveman sketch where he tells the cavemen about brushing teeth on the episode from 1993 that features lots of great sketches like Dance Myself to Sleep, the Alphaquest segment about the letter F, the "my L is lost!" cartoon and the old live-action sketch where the orange ball rides on the roller-coaster as the kid's voice calls "1-2-3!"

Since Noggin showed only the current episodes from 1998-2000, Sherlock can be shown on the 1999 episode where Big Bird wants to have birdseed bread for breakfast, but the toaster got broke and features the bits like the Elmo's World segment about transportation, Elmo and Ernie sing "Share" and the number eight penny candy man song.

I just want to ask a question about Sherlock Hemlock:

What year did he appear?

He first appeared in 1970, and the first sketch with him went like this:

Ernie finds his lunchbox, and looks to see if his lunchbox is in it. He finds one half of his turky sandwich. But the other half is gone. So he needs a detective. Then we hear detective music. Sherlock Hemlock arrives. He asks what kind of sandwich it is, and Ernie replies that it's a turkey sandwich. And Sherlock explains that many people love turkey sandwiches. Then he finds a piece of bread crust, because many people think bread crust is yucky. He also finds a black button, and someone probably lost it off their coat. Ernie holds the button up to Sherlock's jacket, and they find out that...Sherlock ate half of Ernie's sandwich! And Ernie was so thankful and impressed, and said, "How can I ever reward you?" And Sherlock replied, "With the other half of your sandwich."

I remember that one. I had no idea it was the character's first appearance. That was funny, at the end when they found that Sherlock himself was the culprit. It's a good thing Sherlock isn't a police detective. He might have had to arrest himself! Lol.

What's so interesting is 3 of the SH skits.

The Case of the Chicken Salad Sandwhich

The Missing Apple

Ernie's Broken Window

Ernie asks Sherlock who are you in all 3 of those sketchs.

Actually I was mistaken about the Apple one.

I also noticed that. Maybe it was so it wouldn't look too weird to kids when any of those three were repeated that Sherlock Hemlock was introducing himself, after becomming an established character.

I also noticed that in two of the skits where Grover coems to Kermit's house, Kermit reacts as if he didn't know Grover was a salesman. The two skits are the weather machine sketch (Kermit says that he didn't know Grover was a door-to-door salemsan, and absed on how they look in that sketch I think this one came first) and the earmuffs skit (where Kermit just says "don't tell me you're a salesman").

Well, don't forget, they rerun the segments in other episodes, so it would seem as though Kermit wouldn't know Grover's a salesman.

Was the segment the "Case of the Missing Toast," the infamous Mysterious Theater skit where Vincent Twice was the culprit? I remember that one from my childhood, and I liked how it had a different-than-usual ending.

It might. I definently remember seeing that one, and many of my sketch memories are from that era.
