According to Muppet Wiki, it appears that Sesamstrasse is dropping one of it's longest running characters Samson, and from the looks of it, Rumpel as well. I just have to say I find that so odd, dropping a character that's been with the show since it's inception (rather, 2nd era). Still, that's like American SS getting rid of Big Bird and Oscar.

Eh... *knocks on wood*

It was bad enough when they got rid of Tiffy, but now Samson as well kind of shocked me. And Rumpel was not a bad character either. Oh yeah, Elmo is also joining the show for the 40th anniversary season. Ironic huh?

That's kinda of depressing... It's unfair to me why they would get rid of Samson, Tiffy, Rumepl, and other characters like this.
I think the show is going to have more American characters in the new footage than German characters.

Thank goodness Big Bird and Oscar are still around today for Season 43.

Hey, everyone!!! I have great news.
Samson has returned to celebrate 40 years of Sesamstrasse with Ernie and Bert at the Berlin Museum For Film and Television. Check this out!
There is also an exhibit at this museum where puppets are displayed, old and new. There's also costumes and concept drawings for those costumes in which humans wore in various episodes. The exhibition runs from now until April 7th, 2013 in Berlin.
Here's video and photo proof.

That is not all. In July, Ernie, Bert, and Samson made an appearance with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, which is scheduled to air January 1st, 2013 as apart of the New Year's Concert. (German/English)
There's also going to be an anniversary concert which is scheduled to perform on January 7th, 2013 in Rolf-Liebermann-Studio in Hamburg. I hope Samson appears in this concert. (German/English)

I wish to understand what the characters were saying in these videos.
