3. The first show with his puppets was the short lived Junior Good Morning Show, and then the homemaker's morning show (unsure of title)

1. Jim Henson was born in which state?

C. Mississippi

2. Who was Jim's first Muppet?

C. Pierre the Rat

I didn't know about Longhorn & Shorthorn, but the Henson Archives said this French rat was the first known Muppet.

3. What was the first TV show to feature Muppets?

B. "Sam & Friends"

Again, I didn't know about the "Junior Good Morning Show" either. The 1980's exhibit "The Art of the Muppets" showed the characters from "Sam & Friends" first. Incidentally, several of the "Sam & Friends" Muppets look like prototypes for "Sesame Street" characters.

4. Jim's wife's name is...

B. Jane

Jim Henson married the former Jane Nebel. Jane Henson briefly did some Muppeteering work during the early years, and she was mentioned (by first name) in the song "J Friends" on "Sesame Street".

5. True or false: Jim performed the voice of Sam on "Sam & Friends".

B. False

Sam didn't have a proper voice. Actually, NONE of the "Sam and Friends" muppets did, they "lip-synched" to popular recordings of the day.

6. Jim created Muppets for all but one of these products. Which is the one he DIDN'T create a Muppet for?

C. Winston Cigarettes

Something tells me Jim wouldn't create a Muppet that would advocate cigarette smoking, although Zoot probably advocates smoking something else...

7. Rowlf was a regular on "The Jimmy Dean Show". What song is Jimmy Dean well-known for singing?

D. "Big Bad John"

This song about a miner who gave his life to rescue his coworkers was a hit for Jimmy Dean in the early 1960's. Of course, to Muppet fans, he's known for giving Rowlf his big break.

8. Which member of the "Sesame Street" production team nearly mistook Jim Henson for one of the "Weathermen" bombers of the late 1960's?

B. Joan Ganz Cooney

This was mentioned on A & E's "Biography" on "Sesame Street".

9. Other than Kermit, a lot of other people have recorded "Bein' Green". Who of these singers HASN'T recorded it yet?

C. Dean Martin

Dean Martin never recorded "Bein' Green". Frank Sinatra recorded it in the late 1960's (apparently Joe Raposo wrote the lyrics on the back of a postcard of Frank's house), Tony Bennett recorded the song on his CD "The Playground" (with Kermit, as performed by Steve Whitmire), and Don Henley sang it on "Kermit Unpigged".

10. True or false: Kermit was always a frog.

B. False

No one really knows what Kermit was supposed to be before they made him a full-blown frog. He looked more like a lizard on "Sam and Friends" (probably explaining why Fozzie's mom kept calling him such in MFC).

11. True or false: all of Jim's children have performed as Muppeteers.

B. False

I don't think Heather Henson has performed as a Muppeteer, but she did have a small cameo in "Little Shop of Horrors".

12. Who did Jim base the character of Dr. Teeth on?

C. Dr. John

The legendary New Orleans musician was known for his flamboyant costumes and his gravelly voice. So was Dr. Teeth...now can you picture THAT?

13. What was Jim's favorite genre of music?

D. Jazz

So much, in fact, that he requested that a jazz band play at his memorial service.

14. Which character did Jim say was the hardest on his voice performance-wise?

C. Dr. Teeth

Apparently he could only do so many takes as the Doc, because his voice was tough to do for long periods of time.

15. Which of these characters did Jim NOT perform in "Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas"?

A. Emmet Otter

The main character of this Christmas special was performed by Jerry Nelson (in the same voice he used for Robin and, later, for Gobo Fraggle).

16. Cantus was one of Jim's two characters on "Fraggle Rock". Who was the other?

D. Convincing John

Convincing John had a voice and gold tooth like Dr. Teeth's, a moustache like Marvin Suggs', a jacket like a used car salesman's, and could convince anyone into doing anything. However, after an encounter with Wembley, he revealed that even he had his insecurities.

17. According to Brian Henson, which of these characters was done in a voice Jim would use whenever doing something stereotypically associated with being a father?

D. Capt. Link Hogthrob

In some of the intros on the Muppet Show DVD's, Brian said that Jim would use the "Link Hogthrob" voice whenever he did something such as carving a Thanksgiving turkey. Jim also used this voice for another character, Harrison Fox in "Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas".

18. Once in a while Jim would play a bad guy. Who was the baddie Jim would often perform on "Sesame Street"?

A. Sinister Sam

Of course, Sinister Sam wasn't really that bad of a guy, and everyone's fear of him was usually the setup for a great punchline.

19. Which two characters did Jim perform at the 1986 Academy Awards?

D. Kermit and Waldorf

Jim presented an award as Kermit, and heckled the onstage action as Waldorf.

20. Which Muppet Show guest (and friend of Jim's) sang at Jim's memorial service?

C. Harry Belafonte

According to Brian Henson, Harry sang "Turn The World Around" at Jim's memorial. When Harry sang this song on "The Muppet Show", it was known to be one of Jim's favorite moments from working on the show. Harry also was one of many guests to appear on both "The Muppet Show" and "Sesame Street".

Well, that's not entirely true. In the later years (late 50's early 60's), they actually DID use voices, confirmed by Jim and Jne in various interviews.
