A lot of you Muppet fans might remember seeing Arlo Guthrie on the Muppet Show (Season 4?).
His main claim to fame is a song that has become a Thanksgiving institution, "Alice's Restaurant".
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.
Walk right in, it's around the back.
Just a half a mile from the railroad track.
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.
And if you have a half hour to spare, you can listen to the rest of the song (yes, the song is THAT long), how he tells a hilarious (but true) story of what happened to him one Thanksgiving, involving a half ton of garbage, matching wits with one Officer Obie, and "twenty-seven 8x10 color glossy photos with circles and arrows and paragraphs on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us".
I was lucky enough to meet Arlo a few years back, and he's a gifted songwriter, master storyteller, and still remembers the fun he had singing with Muppets. Treat yourself to this one.
