I actually haven't seen all that much of her, but I do think she's pretty funny. What she basically used to do is, she would try out for a part that just wouldn't work. Like the one in Jack & Jill. And there was something where she was going to be the director of something, and it was her job to say "4 3 2 1" before the cue. But she kept saying "1 2 3 4" instead. And the film was about ballet dancing, so she tried out for a dancing part, and everything in the scene fell over.
And I love Alphabet Chat! I have seen her in the Letter "R" version, the only early version I've really seen, and Mr. Chatterly was looking for a rooster, and Gladys walked in and said, "Cock-a-doodle-MOOOOOOO!" And naturally, Mr. Chatterly wasn't satisfied. Later in the show, she came on again and tried to be a dog, which wasn't even planned for the show. It happened when Guy Smiley came on with his commercial! I loved the show back when they did all those crazy things!
