On the "John Denver & The Muppets: A Christmas Together" album, I'm having a small problem identifying a couple of the Muppets from the "12 Days of Christmas" song. I've listened to this album for nearly 20 years (almost my whole life!) but I still can't ffigure this out.

12 Drummers Drumming: Kermit
11 Pipers Piping: ?????
10 Lords-a-Leeping: Statler & Waldorf
9 Something Somthing: Bunsen & Beaker
8 Maids-a-Milking: Rowlf or Dr. Teeth ????
7 Swans-a-Swiming: Lew Zealand
6 Geese-a-Laying: Scooter
5 Golden Rings: Miss Piggy
4 Calling Birds: Robin
3 French Hens: Gonzo
2 Turtle Doves: Fozzie
A partridge in a Pair Tree: John Denver

Any help identifying 11 and eight would be great! Thanks.

The rundown is:

12 Drummers drumming - Kermit
11 Pipers piping - Beauregarde
10 Lords a-leaping - Statler and Waldorf
9 Ladies Dancing - Bunsen and Beaker
8 Maids a-milking - Rowlf
7 Swans a-swimming - Lew Zealand (I think)
6 Geese a-laying - Scooter
5 Gold rings - Miss Piggy
4 Calling birds - Robin
3 French hens - Gonzo
2 Turtle doves - Fozzie
...and a partridge in a pear tree - John

The version performed on the TV special is slightly different:

12 Drummers drumming - Animal
11 Pipers piping - Floyd
10 Lords a-leaping - Statler and Waldorf
9 Ladies Dancing - Janice
8 Maids a-milking - Rowlf
7 Swans a-swimming -Fozzie
6 Geese a-laying - Scooter
5 Gold rings - Miss Piggy
4 Calling birds - Robin
3 French hens - Gonzo
2 Turtle doves - Kermit
...and a partridge in a pear tree - John

And let's not forget the Sesame Street version...

12--I can't remember, ohhhhh deeeeear (Mr. Snuffleupagus)
11--Broken buildings (Herry Monster)
10--Wind-up rabbits (Smart Tina) (later 10 triangles as sung by Telly Monster)
9--Pounds of birdseed (Big Bird)
8--Counts a-counting (The Count) (Ha ha, I love them all!)
7--Rusty trash cans (Oscar the Grouch)
6--Rubber duckies (Ernie)
5--Argyle socks (Bert)
4--Woolly bears (Grover)
3--Footballs (Prairie Dawn)
2--Baby frogs (Hard Head Henry Harris, later Elmo)
1--Delicious cookie (Cookie Monster)

Now, several things remain questionable:

Shouldn't Forgetful Jones have sung the last verse, since he's the one who has bigger problems remembering stuff?

How does one wrap 11 broken buildings, 8 counts a-counting, 4 woolly bears, or 2 baby frogs without some difficulties?

How did Bert end up with five argyle socks? Did the gift-giver wash them first and did the laundry machine suck one up if s/he had three pairs?

To add some more trivia to this thread...

'Calling' (as in 'Four calling birds') is a corruption of the obsolete English word 'colly', which means literally 'as black as coal'. A 'colly bird' is a blackbird.

The 'five golden rings' are actually a reference to a ring-necked bird such as a pheasant, and this restores the original sequence of birds from 1 to 7. After this point, the singer's true love started getting some very odd ideas about gifts...
