Why do playsets vary in cost?

Hey,
I have all of the muppet playsets released. Sadly now, I'm going to sell them....I don't really have a room to display them any more and would just as soon have the cash. I've looked on ebay to see the going rate and don't understand why some playsets are going for more than others. Personally my favorite is the Swedish Chef but it is only going for around $30...and yet the Backstage one, is going for hundreds.

Are some considered rare and I just don't know it? Thanks for any insight!

Fewer Backstage sets were made. Scarcity is your answer. The backstage almost didn't come out. Palisades Toys went out of business shortly after that.
