Here's the thing I've always had a problem with... I wouldn't even say Animal is in the five, so much as he was in the three, especially when it came to merchandise... leading to:

  1. Kermit
  2. Piggy
  3. Animal
    and sometimes-
  4. Gonzo
  5. Fozzie

As for the actual line up, it's hard to say what I'd consider an official one... at times the five can go from Scooter to Rizzo to Animal to Pepe....

I'd say for the classic TMS and first 3 movies Scooter would be included in the 5, pre MT would be Rizzo, and Post MT it varies between Pepe and Rizzo... but mostly Pepe.

Depends on what you're talking about

I'll start with the 5 I think this thread was talking about, and that's the 5 "Main" Muppets

For me this has 2 lists
Older Group
Kermit
Piggy
Fozzie
Gonzo
Rowlf

Newer Group
Kermit
Piggy
Fozzie
Gonzo
Pepe

Merchandise as someone else pointed out
Kermit
Piggy
Fozzie
Gonzo
Animal

As Far as My Personal Favorite 5
Gonzo
Swedish Chef
Animal
Dr. Teeth
Scooter

and just for fun I'll throw this in
Top 5 Sesame Street
Snuffleupagus
Oscar the Grouch
Ernie
Telly Monster
Hoots the Owl

Well the fifth spot can very sometimes it Rowlf, sometimes it Scooter, and sometimes it's even Floyd. Now it's usually Pepe. But as mention when it comes to merchadise, Animal outranks even Gonzo or Fozzie.

Yeah, but again, I'd put Animal way up on that list. As far as merchandising goes, he's basically in the 3. Maybe Gonzo and sometimes Fozzie.

I swear that merchandise these days stacks up close to this:
1. Kermit
2. Animal
3. Beaker
4. Gonzo
5. Fozzie
(Piggy's her own thing, but sells lower than the rest when pegged next to them.)
