Who Could You Envision Directing A Muppet Film?

Well, today we saw proof positive that Kermit and the gang are truly actors...characters that thanks to the mastered craft of Muppeteers, transcend being mere "puppets". In fact it was hard to remember at times this was suppose to be a "family film" since there were so many deep felt adult drama like scenes that truly resonated beyond belief.

And then laugh out loud brilliant scenes like the Moopets performing Rainbow Connection in Reno(err, their sell out version)

Doesnt it feel like you could have a NON Muppet movie, a serious drama, indie comedy/dramedy or rom com in NYC that just happened to have Kermit or Walter?

But more to the point, who could you see directing a Muppet movie?
For me:

1. Woody Allen. A new Muppet film set in contemporary real world(no surreal farsical gags)
New York City would be simply magical

2. Michel Gondry, director of Be Kind Rewind, the Science of Sleep and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

3. Spike Jonze with writer Charlie Kauffman. Jonze directed the Jim Henson creature made Where the Wild Things Are and has the oddball indie style that would work

4. David Fincher. Just kidding, tho that would be interesting. But seriously, Im thinking
Wes Andersen. His film Fantastic Fox shows he is willing to do oddball family films

Others I could see...Mike Mills, director of Sideways, About Schmidt and the new The Descendents
Paul Thomas Andersen(Punch Drunk Love), Martin Scorcesse(hes now doing kids movies, so hes taking chances)
