XERUS'S VOICE ARTIST FOCUS:

Sorry about the lack of V/A focuses. I just needed a break for a while, but now I'm back.

Today's focus is that 90's cartoon Where's Waldo. Based off those popular Where's Waldo books where a striped shirted man hides in different crowds of people and you have to find him. The cartoon series was pretty interesting and funny too. And it has a neat voice cast.

TOWNSEND COLEMAN: Waldo
JIM CUMMINGS: Narrator
BRAD GARRETT: Wizard Whitebeard
JULIAN HOLLOWAY: Odlaw
DAVE WORKMAN: Woof

Here's the theme song to the show.

That was a cartoon? Wow, I'd imagine it'd be hard to adapt a book series like THAT into a television cartoon...

Not really... the character of Waldo basically travels around to odd worlds in the book. The TV show was basically about the same thing. And the viewers had to keep a look out for different things during the episode as well, similar to the lists in the back of the book. And of course, 2 or 3 times and episode before the commercial break there was a Where's Waldo puzzle.

Here's something. The voice cast essentially had to redub or have alternate takes of lines for the British version where he's called "Wally." In fact, there's an episode where Whitebeard the Wizard mistakenly calls Waldo Wally.

I found a couple on Youtube... but you have to search for "Where's Wally"... and it gives you the UK version. it features the same voice cast, but alternate takes of lines substituting "Waldo" with "Wally."

And on the subject, Waldo is known as Charlie in France, Effy in Israel, Willy in Norway, and Walter in Germany.
