Ok, so there probably has been hundreds upon thousands of these kinds of threads. But humor me k? It's for my speech that I'm working on. Just answer these simple questions and you'll make my day .

1) What attracted you to the Muppets (i.e. anything Henson SS, FR, you name it)?
2) Favorite things about the show, characters, peformers, etc.?
3) What keeps you hooked?
4) What would you like to see in the future?

Thanks.

Hi Christy! I'd be happy to answer your questions!

1. I was first attracted to the Muppets by watching Sesame Street at a very young age, I thought Bert and Ernie were incredibly funny and I wanted to meet Big Bird. Eventually my parents taped The Muppets Take Manhatten and the Great Muppet Caper and I began to realize the realm of all that Henson did. I also loved Fraggle Rock. As I got older I was fasinated by Henson and all his creation and tried to learn as much as I could about them!
2. My favorite thing about the Muppets on Sesame Street (since that is where I was first introduced) was the fact that they seemed like they were talking to YOU and no one else. I loved when Grover would look right into the camera and say "today I'm going to teach YOU about near and far" To four year old me, this made the characters my friends.
3. The thing that keeps me hooked is the fact that Jim's legacy goes on and on. There are hopeful things like a Muppet Show Boxset or Fraggle Rock boxset coming this year and new movies are continuing to be generated like Muppets Wizard of Oz.
4. EVERYTHING! Just kidding, more box set DVD's of all Muppet things, including classic Sesame Street, more Fraggle Rock and Muppet Show. It would be nice if the 50th anniversary would be acknowledged in some way.

Hope that helps Christy, sorry if it's a little long.

1. As a kid I watched Sesame Street all the time, unfortunately I cannot remember any of it and it doesn't come on UKTV anymore. What really topped off my obsession was last July when I went to Florida and went on MV*3D. It all came back to me, every muppet film I'd ever watched was just playing on repeat in my head throughout the whole 2 weeks. And I thought "Wow, these puppets are amazing!!" Then one day, when I was searching for pictures of Statler and Waldorf I found MC- and I changed from Dan into TutterTheMouse!!
2. I love everything about the characters, but that they also have a lot of hidden meanings and things. It looks like a kid's show, but it's all really quite deep
3. I'm still hooked because I haven't seen everything yet. GMC, MT, KSY and TMM are all totally foreign to me!
4. MWoO!! I am absolutely throwing up with excitement [not literally of course, but you get what I mean!]

1) What attracted you to the Muppets?
TMS hooked me, I was blown away with the color, talent and beauty of it all.
2) Favorite things about the show, characters, peformers, etc.?
To this day, I claim not necessarily to be a 'Muppet' fan, but a Jim Henson fan. Any genius of that mind-set... God, to be able to envision, create, perform, direct and display something as simple and amazing to Bert & Ernie; to something as dark and powerful as The Dark Crystal and The Storyteller... man, we lost him too soon.
3) What keeps you hooked?
The respect to Jim's legacy. I'm not exactly thrilled with everything that's come out since his passing, but this is his empire, and I'll remain a loyal subject. Like many of you have stated, when it comes to Jim, for me it's almost a religion.
4) What would you like to see in the future?
Not necesarilly a return to their 'roots' as in the ol' Henson magic; but I think the Muppets should be of a more classic personality rather then trying to be trendy or popular.

What about you, Christy?

Why I'm still a Muppet Fan...

1.What first attracted me: Watching SS around 2 years of age.Learning about the alphabet,numbers,morals & values(caring,sharing,cooperation).Fun songs,easy learning,likable characters.

2.Favorite things about the characters,performers,etc...: All the characters have expressive personalities(they all remind me of friends, family members & would be characters that I would like to know). The performers are all genii;can take a medium like puppetry and keep it entertaining(with songs,sketches,etc...).As Brian Henson once said of his dad(to paraphrase):that Jim Henson has so many worlds in his head(world of Labyrinth, muppets,Dark Crystal...)how many worlds can one person have in their head?Always wondered if Jim H. were still alive, how many more worlds Jim had and what projects we could've seen.Jerry Nelson has such a incredible vocal range.Richard, gosh how I miss him;his characters were so sweet & miss his singing too.Frank Oz: I love his sarcasm, his quick wit and reporte with his co-workers.Dave Goelz: sweet singer, sweet characters.Karen,Fran & Kathryn: nice:smile: .

3.What keeps me hooked?Been a fan this long(over 30 years).I still love the medium & always like seeing the new projects.I love that I can go here,at MC,and talk to others(from all over the USA and the other side of the world) about the muppets and other topics.

4.What would I like to see in the future?More projects(films) of fantasy;classic stories & films redone muppet style.Hopefully, back to basics with SS(more alphabet/number songs and sketches pertaining to values again, that would be nice).Fresher characters as well as the classic ones,in more tv projects.

1. Fraggle Rock. I'd always loved it, and watched it with my mother from my first day on this planet.

2. Jim Henson's work represents the entire spectrum of human existence. From the educational, growing up stages represented in Sesame Street, the unity and harmony in Fraggle Rock, to the zany happiness and joy in The Muppet Show, to the darker side of reality shown to us in Labyrinth and The Cube. Not only is it all there; it is presented with a genius that only Jim could put forth (which is why I am such a conservative Muppet fan...without Jim, it will NEVER work the same).

3. In the words of the Trash Heap: "You cannot leave the magic." I think that sums it up best for me; the impact of Jim's work are an integral part of my being, and no matter where life may take me, it will always be in my heart and soul. I couldn't leave it if I tried (I was gone from MC for almost 3 years, and yet, here I am again).

4. NO MORE NEW MUPPET PRODUCTIONS. I know I sound like the anti-fan, but my thoughts here explain my stance pretty well. I would like to see DVD boxed sets of all of Henson's shows, and DVDs of all specials. Most of all, I would really like to see the Muppets stop productions with grace, rather than going down like hacks, which is unfortunately what their trending towards right now. That is what I'd like most.

I hope this helps some.
