Hi everyone,
Today would have been my grandfather's 90th birthday. But he passed away in '92. I realize that he lived a good life, but I miss him.He & I had a very close relationship & he's the one that gave me the nick name "Katzi" :frown:
Also one of my cats who I raised since he was a tiny kitten passed away a year ago today. As he was taking his last breaths ,I was singing "Rainbow Connection" to him. (For those that know about the Rainbow Bridge for animals, you understand why.For those that don't, the Rainbow Bridge is a place where animals go when they pass away. They're made healthy again & they wait for their owners to come & meet them) Anyway, while I was singing to Goobie (my cat) I was crying & by the time I was done singing,Goobie was gone.

I know how you feel as far as being close to your grandpa. My Papa Roy is 98 and I really need to get down to see him!!

Just remember the good times, and celebrate the life, kathy. You know your grandpa and Goobie wouldn't want you to be sad!

I know how you feel Kathy, I only have one grandparent left and she's 91! My other grandparents passed away when I was still very young, but I still miss them. I also know how you feel about your cat, it's so hard to lose pets. I agree with Kevin, remember the good times and try to be happy when you think of them!

Yeah Kev....you're right.Even though my grandfather wasn't fond of cats,I'm sure he could put up with Goobie just this one day for my sake.
Your grandfather is 98 ? WOW! God bless him Kev!

Both you & Kevin are right,Beth.God bless your grandmother too for making it to 91. My grandmother will be gone a year next Thursday. She was 85.
I'll try to remember the good times I had with both grandparents(like games of Scrabble with my grandmother,my grandfather's sense of humor & wonderful singing voice..)
As for Goobie, he was given to me for Christmas as a tiny kitten. I think hewas taken from his mother too soon though. We fed him kitten formula thru a doll bottle and kitten cereal in a Tupperware dish.I think the funniest thing about feeding him in the Tupperware dish is that he fit in it! I have a picture of him in there. He was SO cute!He had liver problems though. So I guess it was good that he lived 12 years until God took him.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Kathy.I've lost all 4 grandparents, both parents, aunt, godmother & godsister over the past 20 years.I really miss my dad's father,Poppi as he was known;the generous,kindest,big-hearted man you could ever meet.I know that he(along with afore mentioned)is definately around me spiritually, but yeah,it's not the same as having them alive.I still acknowledge their birthday's & my parent's anniversary.Grieving is hard, and there is no time limit on it.Sending a mind-hug your way Kathy.

It is very sad. My Grandad died last January after falling over and hitting his head in a shop, he blacked out so it wasnt the shops fault.

My grandfather and one of my grandmothers passed away 5 years ago. Another grandmother passed away 2 years ago. It's a shame they could not see my brother and me graduate from college.

Sorry for your losses, Katzi. You are right to remember the good times you had with lost loved ones. I lost my grandpa before I ever had a chance to appreciate him (he died of lung cancer at age 55). I also lost a grandma several years ago and I do have regrets about the amount of time I spent with her. Now I'm left with a grandpa (age 93) on my mom's side and a grandma (age 74) on my dad's side. I admit I'm still not the most attentive grandson in the world but I think I'm doing a better job of staying in touch. You're a very caring person, Katzi; keep your chin up.
