Ernie and Bert have the basement apartment in 123 right? Well, the outside of 123 shows that their apartment windows are behind the wall of the dumpster, well if that's the case, then how come inside their apartment, their windows reveal sky? Shouldn't their windows be revealing dumpster wall? I know Ernie and Bert's apartment is a seprate set, but...I don't know.

the 1st season they did have the garbage cans in front of the window. but for most of the years you'd see blue sky indeed. who knows.

I do remember seeing a trashcan in front of their window in an early skit. Hmmmmm, it is odd, you'd think they wouldn't be able to see any sky, not only because of the dumpster wall, but if it was there, they'd probably only see the subway and apartment backdrop. Did Big Bird's nest area used to be a separate set? It sure does look like it in Christmas Eve on Sesame Street.

To make matters even more confusing, the Fisher Price Play Family Sesame Street set put Ernie and Bert's apartment on the top and Susan and Gordon's on the bottom.

OK this is a bit of stretch but I think it is (kinda) correct. Most puppet shows like "Sesame Street" are actually shot with the camera tilting upwards to help conceal the puppeteer's heads. There's a decent amount of space between the "dumpster" (or whatever it is) and the windows. Since the camera is tilting up (slightly), from that angle you should actually be seeing some sky...or at least the second floor of the Mail-It Shop.

Just a thought.

Didn't they raise the dumpster wall in season 33? Because I remember seeing episode 3981 and thinking "whoa, that's a tall dumpster wall on 123."

Yeah...I believe Maria and Luis have the top apartment. Oh well, I used to pretend that Ernie and Bert ran them out so they could have the top apartment. Let me see, Maria and Luis on top, Gordon and Susan ground level, Ernie and Bert in basement, Bob on top of Hooper's Store, where do Gina and Alan live?

it's so interesting you ask about where Gina and Alan live. in my time i don't ever recall them going into where Mr. Hooper, David, or even where Luis lived prior to him wedding Maria. if they lived on SS, they certainly didn't live in the immediate area.

Well, in the Sesame Street set there was only two stories to that building. Maria and Luis had not gotten together yet when it was made, nor were there any Little People versions of them that were created, although they did have a picture of Luis in his Fix-It-Shop on the side. All of the humans and muppets supposedly lived somewhere on the street.

In the Fisher Price set, you could also pretend that Ernie got a wild idea about switching apartments and talked Bert, Susan, and Gordon into it. Then you could say that Bert eventually insisted on moving back when he realized that Ernie just wanted more space to scatter all of his toys around. :stick_out_tongue: :frown:
