Hi guys.Does anyone remember this animated skit(from the 90's,I think)where this cat waits for this lady to feed him a can of cat food, but then the phone rings. So the lady picks it up and answers it.She's talking to her friend on the phone(I think). While she's busy talking, the cat tries to open the can by biting on it,whacking it open with a baseball bat, jumping on it,and even banging his head on it(like Don Music banging his head on the piano keys!)Then the lady finally finishes talking to her friend on the phone and realized that she forgot to open the can for the cat,so she opens it for him(with an electric can opener,or something, forgot what it's called)and puts it into his bowl. Then the lady says "Here you are, come and get it".The cat is crawling and panting, because he's so tired from doing all those things to get the can opened. And then he looks at his food and he faints on his head on it

My question is,what is the theme/moral of this skit?I mean, most of the skits on Sesame Street had moral lessons in them(i.e:sharing,cooperation,etc..)but I don't understand this one?How about you guys?

Ooh, I love that skit! Hillarious! The art in that is really intresting and different. I'm not sure if there was an actual lesson to be taught..maybe that was just for entertainment...or possibly waiting your turn?

That skit was definetley made before the 90's, I think it's from the early 80's.

Maybe its lesson was teaching how to open a can of cat food - you can't use a baseball bat or your teeth; you need a can opener.

That reminds me, does anyone remember that Looney Tunes cartoon when that mouse took the can opener from Sylvester and he couldn't get the cat food can open no matter how hard he tried?

The only "lesson" I can think of is patience. The cat is not patient. We should be. Or maybe we're supposed to learn not to be oblivious to the needs of others.

Whatever, though, because I loved this bit when I was a kid (mid 80's).

I loved that skit. Very funny. I was always under the impression that that particular skit was 'just for fun.' Nothing wrong with a bit of unpurposeful humor every now and then. If there was any lesson, I always thought it would be to take care of your pets.

I always thought that the skit was about how you can't ignore things that are important. I always felt really bad for the cat, and wanted the lady to get off the phone and feed him already!

It could be either of those, or, maybe it was to teach different ways of doing something.
