I feel dumb saying this, but I've never understood the Telephone Pole Bit. I've only seen what I know about it from Fozzie's Scrapbook. What is the joke? Is it suppose to funny or is it suppose to be funny because its not funny???? Help!

I have determined that either this is a reeeeeeeeaaaaaaally dumb question or no one else understands the Telephone Bit either.

The sketch goes like this:

The curtains open!
The audience is there!
Onstage is a public telephone, with a circular cutout where the dial should be. Fozzie's face peers through the hole. Scooter looks at Fozzie:

"Hello! What's your name?"

"Mike Oznowiski."

"Ah, so you're the telephone Pole!"

Joke in much the same vein as:

"I'll buy this. Will you accept a cheque?"

"Certainly, Sir."

"Vladimir!"

[enter Vladimir]

"Here's a Czeck, all the way from Prague!"
