ok, I dont know about you, but I have known how to sing this song since I was little, but as you also know, when little kids learn a song- they usualy have NO idea what its about.

The Rainbow Connection was like this for me. Now that I am older, its a really awsome inspiring song. Jim is in every word.

I thought that maybe we could discus this song bit by bit to get the most out of it- I guess kinda like a book discusion. Here it is-

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard
and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
and what do we think we might see?

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic.

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.

The lovers, the dreamers and me.

and heres a clip-

I color coded it- so we will take it by color (the refrain is always in red)
so the purple one first

Sorry to get out of order, but I just wanted to comment on this part of the song. It seems to my knowledge that this part of the song is usually skipped when written down. I noticed this in "Bein' Green". Why is it? Just wondering.

That's interesting. Maybe because it comes right after the lovers and dreamers line, and sounds like an extra addition. Like you could get away with not using it and the verse would still sound completed.

That being said, I like that line in the movie. The way they pan down to the water, showing there is seemingly no puppeteer under Kermit. Now that looks like magic!

And yes, I too used to sing this as a kid while having no idea what it was about!
