Similar to the Jughead clip, this one featured the PP in Karate garb, chopping a rock into the letter K while the narrator says "clever for the word Karate". At the end, the "K" falls flat on it's face with a vintage facial expression from the pink panther. does anyone else remember what the narrator said?

He basically said "K: Karate," or something like that. By the way, that one did air recently. It was on one of the hurricane episodes.

How did they get to use a character from another show on Sesame Street? Didn't they have to have a copyright?

Interestingly, the Pink Panther and other cartoon characters have made cameos on the show without any mention of copyright - I would assume that this is done just as a favor to Sesame Workshop, and also for the chance to promote the characters on a different show.

Some old-timers may remember the cartoon clips of Superman and Batman & Robin that ran on Sesame St.

This old-timer remembers them, but not in a lot of detail. It's interesting that Sesame Street started out using DC Comics characters and The Electric Company wound up using Spider-Man from Marvel Comics.

Somebody tells me that SpongeBob probably could not make a guest appearance on Sesame Street because he is a character from a different show.

Maybe it's different now. They certainly had them from other shows in the past though.

Actually, while the Electric Company definitely had Spider-Man on there (he never really said anything though- just saw thought bubbles on the screen like in a comic book, with a narrator telling the story) - I know for sure on this one- I've got an episode on tape with Spidey on it!!!

But I've also heard that the Blue Beetle also showed up on The Electric Company. Though he was technically originally a Fawcett Comics character, by the time of The Electric Company, he had been bought by DC Comics, so TEC had both Marvel and DC characters on there. Though I think Spider-Man is remembered a lot more than Blue Beetle.

And I definitely remember the Jughead (from Archie comics) clip on Sesame Street where he told us a lot of "J" words- and the last one was "jump" and he wound up jumping in the river!

I'm not sure if I remember The Pink Panther one or not, but it sounds right. It seems like he probably would have been on there, as well as the Superman and Batman and Robin clips I've heard of. I'm sure there's probably others that have shown up too. Anyone remember some others?
For example, The Simpsons had a cameo on Sesame Street at the end of the original version of "Monster in the Mirror".

This one was very brief- ten seconds if that. The Panther comes up to the rock with his black belt and sash.
Narrator: A demonstration by the Pink Panther.
PP carves out the letter K with three chops.

Narrator: Clever! The letter "K" as in the word "KARATE"! Panther takes a bow.

Then the K collapses into a mound of pebbles, as the Panther gives us this look of disbelief.

Very KOOL.
