The number painter

If you are a fan of classic SS, you can remember the classic number film segments featuring Paul Bendict, the number painter. I think it never played the number "1" and "12" versions, but it played 2-11. Here are all of his segments so you will remember these.

2-on the sailboat
3-on slices of bread by using ketchup, mustard and mayonneise
4-on the beach umbrella (I remember seeing that on the Rainstorm episode from 1972)
5-on the gorilla's ball
6-on the cake by using cake icing (I have this sketch from the 1987-88 season on my first family tape)
7-on the elevator
8-on the bald man's head in the pool
9-on the cityscape streetlights
10-on the stool
11-on the nurse's window

I remember watching those number painter segments on Sesame Street as a child. I had no idea the painter guy was the same guy who played Bentley on the Jeffersons. I couldn't see the resemblance. Anybody know who the bald guy was in those sketches? I only recently found out the woman was Stockard Channing.

Yeah, I remember the number painter...'cuz he scared me to death. Seriously, this was always the most traumatic Sesame skit for me. I don't know if it was the fast-paced editing or just some undetermined fear of paint...lol. I think he had an evil looking mustache too so maybe that was it.

It's been years since I've seen any of the skits though. Thanks for the memories, mikealan.

The one with the gorilla I remember from when I was a kid - you know, I always wondered if he was the guy from the Jeffersons!

Wasn't there something in the punchline of that particular skit that involved a bananna and maybe it's peel? I'm very fuzzy on the details...amazing to recall something from 30 years ago, though.
