I wonder if thaqt skit about the 4 dragons in the painting that the Japaneese prince had to find in order to become king was based on a Japaneese legend?

I remember the Japanese storyteller told another story. I can't remember the exact details, since it was only showed a few times back in the 70's. But what I can remember is how the same Evil Prime Minister was ruling the land with an iron fist and he had every single thing in the world. And he said if the one subject can bring him something he doesn't already have, he'll give up his throne and his evil ways.

One subject brought him a hat, but the Prime Minister already had a hat like it. Another one brought him a rare rose, but the Prime Minister already had one like it. The subjects kept bringing him different stuff, but the Prime Minisiter already had all that stuff.

One day, a little girl offered him something. HERSELF! The Prime Minister showed the girl one of his lady servants saying he already has a girl. But the little girl said that there is no one like her. Her personality and thoughts are different than any other person in the world, just like we all are different. Since the Prime Minister didn't have a girl like her, he had lost. The people cheered for they were free from the evil Prime Minister. And the storyteller says, after that the Prime Minister was no longer evil. But PM just says, "That's what you think!" and he gongs the storyteller on the back causing his head to droop.

Actually, he said, "You big mouth!" and then conked him on the back of the head.
Great rendition of that skit, Xerus. I had forgotten about some of the details. I can really picture that part with the hats, though, where the guy says, "How about this hat?" And the PM says, "Just like MY hat. a hee hee hee hee hee sorry, a hee hee hee." And the "Yay yay yay yay yay" cheering of the people near the end. And, of course, that classic close.

Thank you. I was wondering if anyone else remembered it. Oh, I didn't know PM said that line instead in the end. Like I said, it was such a long time since I've seen it. Maybe they don't show it anymore because of the act of violence PM did to the storyteller.

Yes, that was a good one. As the little girl kept expounding about how she was different in every way, the evil Prime Minister finally said, "Okay! Cool it!" and gave up. I seem to remember that the reward for having something that the Prime Minister didn't have was to become emperor. At one point, the Prime Minister runs up to the storyteller and says that she cannot become emperor because she's a girl. The storyteller says that she will then be empress. Maybe the villain was actually the "Evil Emperor" in that one and not Prime Minister?

it just crossed my mind. in intensity towards the end of it where the clock strikes 12 midnight and while 1 might think it's too late for real, in the story he son still had time because the clock hadn't finished bonging and obviously he found the last 3 dragons. and while I don't know how most people in ancent times worldwide told time worldwide I've probably read or heard that everyone would of had some ststem of some sort but certainly not a hand clock and even if they did a Japaneese clock wouldn't of had a clock with reguler numbers but who at that age would understand that.
