I used to watch shows like Maury Pavich, Ricki Lake, Jenny Jones, Sally Jessie Rafael etc. But now it seems like most of them are gone. And the ones that are left have the same repetitive trashy topics every day. Maury is CONSTANTLY and I mean CONSTANTLY about Paternity tests. Having these women on there who don't know who their baby's father is, either that or the man being a total jerk and denying that a kid is his. It's depressing seeing this every day. Jerry Springer is constantly about negative situations too, and the show is infested with low lives. What ever happened to the diversity of talk TV? Back when you never knew what you were gonna see next? What's up with all the repetitive drama? I just don't get it. Talk TV isn't even close to what it was in the 90's. What does everyone else think of all of this?

Yeah TV (and movies and society) in general has gone completely downhill. I guess it's for a lot of different reasons. They know a very select group of people will enjoy watching what these shows have become, so they cater to them.

Plus, everyone has a side of their brain that likes bad taste. The media is appealing to that and it works because we all respond to it to a certain extent. I think would respond well to good taste too (we used to when it was available), but for some reason it's largely been abandoned.

I don't like daytime tv at all, Yuck...

THe 90's is really the point when things really wen't sour to me. Besides 24 hour news and sensationalism and cynicism all the time, you have this endless garbage on the "boob toob" all day, and Rosie O'Donald's mouth, now...

I've really never liked any of those above said shows. I do respect Springer becauce he know's what he is, where he stands, what he's doing, a he admits and dosent try to hide or pretend like he trying to do something decent. He know his show is the scum of television so I can't hate on him for that. Eveyone else is just instigating and pretending like they are actually doing something good to contribute to society and they try to justify what they do. Jerry is the only one honest which may elplain why he just about the only one left inexplicably, haha! At first Oprah was kind of klie that, but now I think she's on her holier then though high horse, do things the "oprahism" way's. Buy whay she teel you to buy, ear what she says to eat, live the way she say's to. I believe it she told her studio audience to go and jump in tha lake or something that they would listen to her as wll as all the viewers, too.:excited:

Well yes, Daytime was never the most sophisticated form of entertainment, even when it was good, lol.

Honestly though...The History Channel just did a documentary on The Middle Ages (also known as The Dark Ages). I think we're living through a 2nd Dark Ages right now. The good thing is, it will probably end at some point just as it did before.
