Statler/Waldorf big hair

Does anybody know how Statler and waldorf's big hair is done?
I have some fur hair, but looking at it, how Statler's hair is that thick that you cant see his ears from the front,the fur alone wont give that effect, so I am wondering, is there padding under the fur to raise it up?Or is there extra thick fur that you can buy?
