I don't wish to parade around blowing my own trumpet but I'd like to say that I love doing my charity work every Monday to help the poor and needy.
I'm a Catholic and I work as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul society. A Catholic charity organization.
Every Monday morning my fellow churchman Ian picks me up in his car and we usually pick up our friend Lynnie and we drive out to the Wellfare Office where people who are in financial trouble can come to get food to help them and their children. Wellfare is open Mon to Fri but we usually only do Mondays. Other Catholics work the other days. Our hours are officially 9 till 1 but if anyone is inside before closing time we will serve their needs so we can be working till 1:30 or even 2 sometimes. But it makes us feel good to try to help the poor remembering how Jesus reached out to the poor and suffering and how St. Vincent in his lifetime strove to follow Jesus's footsteps.
We give them standard bread, margarine, vegetables, frozen mince and sausage and other basic groceries to feed them. We also give them toilet paper and we try our best to help them sort out their budget and manage their bills. We remember the words of our Saviour "I was hungry and you fed me." so we try to see Jesus in all the people we help and we know that God is pleased with us His servants. We pray that we will be able to do our part to make life happier for our fellow humans. We are all volunteers awaiting our heavenly pay when our journy of life is over. It means so much to all of us
