Well, it's nearly April and my year thus far hasn't lived up to its promise. I won't bore y'all too much with the details –
My father is undergoing minor cancer treatment, my mom is a cancer survivor, but just received her third knee replacement, is due for another while also having back problems, my partner is having his own unexpected troubles, legal and personal, that I just can't fix, my work prospects could be much better and I've fallen into a bit of a low again.
I am resilient and very blessed to have many good people to prop me up. Still, any thoughts and prayers are appreciated. It all just came out of the blue. The price we pay for the good stuff is that it can be fleeting. That won't prevent me from seeking it out and sharing it with other people. Seasons are what make us appreciate where we've been, where we are and where we're going. That brings me back to spring!
I have made so many improvements in my life over the past few years (hence the hiatus around this forum until last year). These improvements include health, fitness, spiritual, emotional, some work projects and a general well-being. One thing is still missing! My apartment does not match the rest of it. It's the one thing that's not like the other. I just saw an ad for an Oprah show on hoarding and even though my situation doesn't come near that stratosphere, it feels like that to me sometimes. Too many boxes, not enough care (messy bachelor pad syndrome).
So I went straight from the gym (where that ad was on one of the monitors) to Walgreen’s and I'm going to roll up my sleeves and see what I can get done. It's something tangible that can be managed. Who else is doing some spring cleaning and who has any tips?
No matter how bad things ever get I remember how charmed my life really is. I know misfortune is relevant to each individual, but recognize my many blessings. I guess a little pruning is in order and this is as good a time as any!
