I know I keep breaking my promise to never write outside of T*K*O again, but this little idea just popped into my head; so I decided to write it down.
NOTE: I suppose you could think of this as an insert for that old Kathy G. On Sesame Street story I did several months ago.
ELMO: KATHY!
KATHY: ELMO!
They both give each other big hugs.
ELMO: Elmo's so happy to see you!
KATHY: Well I'm happy to see you, Elmo.
ELMO: Would Kathy like to have a playdate with Elmo?
KATHY: Oh, I would love to have a playdate with you! What would you like to do?
ELMO: Would Kathy sing the alphabet song with Elmo?
KATHY: I'd love to!
ELMO: GOOD! (Calls upward) MUSIC!!!
The alphabet music begins playing, as Elmo and Kathy start their little duet.
BOTH: (Singing) A B C D E F G, H I J K LMNOP, Q R S, T U V, W, X...
KATHY/ELMO: (Overlap) Y and "Zed"/Y and Z...
KATHY: (Continues) ...Now I've sung my...
ELMO: (Interrupting) STOP! STOP! STOP THE MUSIC!!!
Music stops.
KATHY: What's the matter?
ELMO: Well, Elmo doesn't believe something was right there with the ending.
KATHY: You don't?
ELMO: No. Something didn't sound right to Elmo.
KATHY: Should we try it again?
ELMO: Yes. (Calls upward) MUSIC!
Music plays.
BOTH: (Singing) A B C D E F G, H I J K LMNOP, Q R S, T U V, W X,
KATHY/ELMO: (Overlap) Y and "Zed"/Y and Z...
KATHY: (Continues) ...Now I've sung my ABC's, next time...
Kathy notices Elmo just staring at her.
KATHY: (Moves closer) ...won't you sing with me?
ELMO: Kathy, Elmo doesn't think you're doing it right.
KATHY: I'm not?
ELMO: No. Everytime we get to "Y and Z"... you always say "Y and 'Zed'". There's no letter "Zed" in the alphabet, where did Kathy get "Zed"?
KATHY: (Chuckles) Oh, I forgot to tell you, that's how we pronouce the letter 'Z' in Canada.
Grover pops in.
GROVER: Did I hear somebody say "Canada"?
KATHY: Oh I did, Grover, why?
GROVER: Well because I just remember, it is time for me to take another trip around the world! Hmm, where shall I go today? (Thinks)
KATHY: You could come to Canada with me.
GROVER: (Thinks) Hmm, wait a minute...I could go to Canada with Kathy!
KATHY: (Jokingly) Too bad I couldn't think of that!
GROVER: Oh well. NORTH TO ALASKA!
KATHY: You mean Canada.
GROVER: Yeah, right, this is what I said, ah ha-ha-ha-ha! Let's go!
Grover runs off.
KATHY: (To Elmo) Thanks for the playdate Elmo, but I've got to run!
ELMO: Bye Kathy! (Starts singing to himself) A B C D E F G, H I J K LMNOP, Q R S, T U V, W X Y and "Zed"...
