Thanks to stacyrebecca for answering my questions I asked last week offline, and your patience was MUCH appreciated!

Of course with any beginner, I have so many questions, I don't know where to start. Inherited our church's puppets, some of which haven't seen the light of day for many years, half of them stuck in a corner literally barely started or unfinished. Expectations are high since they remember previous puppetry events and I need some help!

I of course need to repair a few, reverse engineer one or two due to it not being able to be repaired, and i know a lot of folks use contact cement, but, health wise and my abode is not ventilated properly to work in my basement, as I read fumes do roll along the floor/flat surface, and I can't put my children or grandchildren at risk, besides myself with asthma/breathing problems.

So.. what do I use instead of contact cement? I have had someone mention a water based contact cement, but unable to find it locally. Is there something else out there that could give me the smooth seal of the Dap Contact Cement, but without the health issues?

There are so many questions, that I could probably make the longest initial post in a thread record if I posted it all, but, this was an issue I came up against, and I didn't know what to do.

Options? Ideas? Funny Stories? Talk to me.

There's Fabri-tac. The fumes aren't nearly as bad as contact cement. An open window will do the trick. Available at craft stores and fabric stores.

The water based contact cement is made by Dap. I know Home Depot and Lowes both carry it in the stores by me (but not online). The Dap website gives locations you can buy it at.

And of course there's hot glue guns. I don't like those but others swear by them.

Hey, teenager, if you don't like Fabri-tac, that's fine. I've never had a problem with it.

Maybe you used it wrong.

Talk to me . . . ha, I say that all the time. Or sometimes "talk to me teddy bear" ala the Bob & Tom skit, must be an Indiana thing.

Your fellow Hoosier also votes for hot glue gun based on your post.
Andrew recommended this one which I purchased and it is nice.
