Shout! Factory and DiC have announced a partnership to distribute hit animated titles from the DiC library. Their first release is Heathcliff & the Catillac Cats on September 20, followed by other titles later this year. Other select titles scheduled for future release will include "The Legend of Zelda," "Super Mario Bros. Super Show," "Inspector Gadget" and "Sabrina The Animated Series."

Please note than some etailers have begun listing The Legend of Zelda" and "Super Mario Bros. Super Show, however we're told that the dates are incorrect, and that nothing has been announced from the companies involved. This has become normal for Shout! Factory releases; sales are done through Sony Music, and they often solicit orders before a date is set.

We'll have more information when the titles are officially announced

That's good news. I've noticed that DIC is trying to keep syndicated cartoons alive by showing stuff like Berenstain Bears, The Littles, and other shows on weekdays. Syndicated toons seem to be dying fast.

Questions:

  1. Will these be American (Region 1) releases?
  2. Will these be "Sesaon sets," or just the same old sporattick (Sp) hard to find 4-5 episodes per disk releases we already have?
  3. Will these be nationally available, or hard to find, not sold in many name stores, also like the others?
  4. Does this mean UAV is going to stop releasing the ones they already are, and if so, will they be put on clearance at places like WalMart?

it would be nice to see "the super mario bros. super show" again. that was great. I kinda wish that the live actors who played mario and luigi on that show played them in the movie. it would also be great if they mad ea computer animated mario movie (to match the nintendo 64 and gamecube games).
