Seth Mcfarlane the creator of Family Guy is talking about ending Family Guy before it gets really bad (though I'm sure some of us would say it's too late for that,)

Read about it here

Personally, I felt it got stale after the THIRD Conway Twitty cutscene. I mean, what always drew me to Family Guy was the fact it was crazy and unpredictable. You cannot be unpredictable when you reuse the same joke. Same thing goes for Cleveland falling out of the Bathtub. It was funny twice, but the third time it was just screaming "we can reuse about 10 seconds of animated footage and save a hundred bucks."

Much like the Simpsons, the show has so many episodes a year, and it's been going on so long that the episodes keep devolving in writing quality. Sometimes you'll see a great episode that looks like the show's finally back on track... but then you'll see one the following week that looks like a 10 year old with ADHD wrote the script.

And quite frankly, in trying to keep up with current humor trends (something I guess is called LOL WHUT... when you try to be as insanely weird or awkward as possible in lieu of being clever), I think the show has really lost Seth's real sense of humor. And also, enough with the political rants. la Padre La Familia was a terrible episode.

That said, I really do like the show, and have since it premired... I just think the better writers and jokes went to American Dad. But since that isn't quite as big, it never gets the same attention. Which is a shame, since it is a vastly superior show that doesn't rely on cutscenes to be funny.

It doesn't have the whole cast...it has Cleveland. And a bunch of new characters. No Griffins or Quagmire or anyone else.

They're just gonna be there to basically wave at Cleveland as he leaves if anything.

Unless ratings slag and they get desperate... then they always throw in "Special guest stars" to help them out. It happens with EVERY spinoff...

I honestly think it's a total shame King of the Hill is being canned in favor of the Cleveland Show.

But I must ask, does it brother anyone else that Cleveland Jr, went from a skinny young kid with ADHD to a really chubby kid?

But yeah I think it is probably about time to end this show, personally.

I love Family Guy. I find Seth Mcfarlane darkly funny even in the weakest episodes so I hope that his cartoons stay as long as he sees fit to write for them. Isn't there going to be a movie? I think Mcfarlane understands that the Griffins are not the Simpsons in depth and stamina, but they offer a different type of humor that expires a lot sooner.

I never was much of a King of the Hill fan. I'm from Houston and have been around people of the Hill sort in the outskirts of the city limits like Arlen represents. No judgements there. They are hard working people. I simply found most of the program to be more matter-of-fact rather than amusing. There were parts that I found funny, but the rest didn't interest me. I respect that it's an interesting show for other people.

I think the Cleveland Show is an unexpected project that no one can predict its success or failure just yet. I thought American Dad would flop, but they seem to keep things interesting.

As much as I like King of the Hill, I'm glad it ended. It was on over 10 years, and I really think they left things on a high note before it got to be excedingly stale. Besides... KOTH had the same problem Futurama had... after a while, it kept getting pre-emptied for Football. It was getting to the point where it took 2 seasons to air a single season. Why they didn't do "Animation Domination" sooner, and stop flopping around with garbage like The War at Home and The Winner and various other bad Sunday night programming (I'm not talking Arrested Developement... that was a great show that had a bad home).

Cleveland Jr. Took the devorce from Loretta VERY hard... that was even explained in another episode. Personally, I thought they hinted at his suicide (FG is famous for killing off cast members)... but apparently he just got really fat and slow witted.

I think FG's basic problem now is that it does humor specifically geared towards the adult swim crowd, and that really hurrt the quality of the show for us who have been watching it at the beginning and saying, "NO! This isn't a clone of the Simpsons. By that logic, The Simpsons is a clone of the Flintstones." I agree that the show isn't trying to be anything it shouldn't be, but then it doesn't become what it could be. Over the past few seasons, the characters became extremely flat (not that they had too much depth in the first place) and the jokes became easy and predictable... and reused. Plus, I really hate how Stewie became the star of the show, and they took away his best quailty... they traded in his being evil to being annoying guy with funny accent (and that's Simpsons territory... ask Sideshow Mel). However, I do like how Chris has been growing and evolving as a character. He truely is the most underrated member of the family.

Trust me, I still love the show, but I just think we've got another Simpsons/Futurama dillemma here, with Family Guy and American Dad... the show that really needs the attention isn't getting it. But maybe that's what makes it a better show. I mean, less episodes a season to crank out, the strive to work harder...
