What I mean is that does Sesame Workshop have any replacements puppeters to preform the SS muppet cast, just in case their original voices can not make it or are no longer with the show or among the living ? :frown:

Well, Matt Vogel is a stand-in for Carroll Spinney and I hear that John Tartiaga or whatever his name is might perform Elmo if the time ever comes when Kevin isn't available. There probably should be a stand-in for Jerry Nelson as well so the Count and Herry will still be in action, but I've heard nothing on that so far.

Of course, Carrol Spinney actually performs Big Bird more than his recast. In fact I haven't seen him play Big Bird since JTE was dropped. So Carrol almost exclusively does him now.

There's a list of recasts on the main site. It has all the info you need.

That's what I thought too until I learned from Miss MelissaY1 that Matt was in fact in the Bird suit most of last season and Caroll was not there much of that ime but recorded the voice for him on most episodes in post.

Yeah. When Big Bird's beak does not match up with his dialogue it most likely appears to be Matt Vogel in the puppet and Caroll Spinney providing the voice. But I think Caroll Spinney still performs Oscar exclusively.

Also, I think Eric Jacobson would be a good performer to recast some of Frank Oz and Richard Hunt's retired characters. His Hammy the Dwarf from last year sounded like a cross between Oz and Hunt, so I'm sure of it. Maybe Eric Jacobson could play Forgetful Jones and Placido Flamingo?

I didn't know that. But it does make sense, especially when BB and Oscar are shown at the same time. I have heard that Carroll would perform BB until he can no longer hold up the head, which he's not doing if he's just looping in the voice. Maybe he has gotten a bit too old to hold up Big Bird's head. Not to put the guy down because he's a wonderful and talented performer, but he is getting up there.
