Hey everybody what's up? I had a few questions about some Sesame Street songs that I was hoping maybe you guys could answer. I'm asking for basically any information about these songs:

14 Carrot Love
Sixteen Samba
Seven Days
Six Kids In The Classroom
Four Blind Mice

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi... Let's see what I can help with.
4 Blind Mice, um, don't you mean "Three Blind Mice" instead?
Six Kids in the Classroom, methinks you might be confusing this one for the song "Six Kids Playing". Jamal calls for five classmates to come over and sing a song with him, where they teach subtraction as each kid's respective guardian or person responsible for their care comes to pick them up and take them home, until Jamal's the last one left.
7 Days, never heard of that one, unless you're refering to the song "The Days Of The Week" as sung by Roosevelt Franklin and some miscellaneous kids.
14 Carrot Love, this one was performed by Polly Darton with assistance provided by Benny Bunny. You can find the lyrics at forum member Tiny Dancer's Original Sesame Street Lyrics Archive website.
16 Samba, haven't been able to find any info on this one myself, but I remember there was a sort of Brazilian Carnival feel to the song, as the main singer sang about how a 1 from the country met a 6 from the city (or viceversa) and they got together to make a lovely new number.

Hope this helps.

All I can add to the replies above, is the following:

  • Yes, a variant song called "Four Blind Mice" was performed by a couple of Sesame Street Muppets (I think it was Bert and Ernie, but might be wrong there) during the first season.
  • Yes, the "16 Samba" song exists (I've seen it on PBS, though that was 20-odd years ago). Some of the lyrics I recall:
[ballad-like guitar intro by the lead vocalist Muppet, moderate tempo]

He was a 1 from the country
She was a 6 from the town
He fell in love when he saw her
Wearing her beautiful gown...
[forgotten line here]
It was a time for romance
They made a brand-new number
When they began to--dance!

[music becomes a lively samba tune from here on; the Muppetized digits of "16" move closer together and start dancing]

16...you know what I mean
Just 1 and 6, with nothing between
16, what a heavenly number [singer pronounces it "numbah"]
So great for adding, subtracting, and counting, and doing the samba
16, my carnival queen
You're more to me than [?], and less than 18... [the missing word is a number, but I forget which]
Hope this helps a little, at least!
