I had sesame street on the TV the other day whilst having breakfast, it was the first time I saw it in ages because I'm usually not at home when its on. I thought I had better mention this because I wanted to know what other people thought of it if they noticed it.

It was a segment with cookie monster and his mum, now this is a silly thing didnt upset me or anything, im not that old fashioned or small minded, but it kind of shocked me because its not the sesame street I remember. Cookie monster and his Mum both gobbled down some cookies really fast and after that they both let off a burp, I know they seem to feel the needs to add burps into almost everything on TV these days but I thought it wasnt really necessary since it is a show for kids and it used to teach good and bad manners and I was taught that its bad manners to burp infront of people since a very young age, infact I don't burp at all.

It didn't offend (if it did I would have a bit of a problem, lol) or anything, I just wondered what other people thought of this, I'm probably being a bit old fashioned.

I also noticed that cookie monster wasnt as good as he used to be mainly the voice but obviously this is due to another puppeteer other than frank oz.

I havent watched sesame street for years so I guess it has changed a fair bit.

yes,i agree we are the same

I have fond memories of the first 6 yrs of the Street, there after for me is vague. It is very cool that they air the odd old skit(s)(early 70's ones) in the 80's right through to today at times so us "oldie people" can recollect.Yes,times have changed and we will all see what & how season 35 is going to be,VARIETY is nice.

When is Season 35 going to air ??

Are you serious? IT'S A BURP!!!!!!!!!!

Also, it is impossible that you NEVER burp. I'm sure that at least once in your entire life you have swallowed air while eating or have had a carbonated drink. Burping is natural and to treat it as if it is some horribly offensive act is just wrong. Sometimes I wonder what goes through the minds of people that find these thuings shocking or offensive.

We, as a society, can not handle children as if they are delicate and easily damaged. If you start eliminating things from TV because some one feels it isn't for kids, we will be left with a generation of non-humans! The important things are freedom, free speech, and equal opportunity! BURPING is not something worth fighting against.

I miss the days when cartoons were violent. You could drop an anvil on someone's head and no one blinked. Now a puppet burps after eating cookies and someone finds it shocking. We are all doomed.

If I'm not mistaken,in the movie Elmo's Adventures In Grouchland, one of the grouches passed wind. The styles in entertainment media have definetly changed over the years.Cartoons like South Park would never ever have been permitted on television back in my childhood days[the 1970s].Not to mention, there were never any TV sitcoms like All In The Family before the 1970s.I even remember during Muppets From Space,Miss Piggy saying that she was so excited, she had to pee.Which only proves how entertainment media boundaries have been broken time and again.

I'm not a fan of bodily function jokes just for the sake of bodily function jokes. Piggy saying she needs to pee had no place there. I think that was a pee joke just for the sake of having a pee joke. Cookie and his mom burping after scarfing down some cookies makes sense and is natural for the character of Cookie Monster. Cookie isn't suppose to have table manners. Look at how he eats cookies.

BTW, South Park is obviously an adult cartoon on at an adult time. Nothing on comedy central is meant for kids.
