I've been thinking about getting screen capture software for myself, so I don't have to rely on other people to provide images for my website. I was wanting know is the software real expensive?

No not rully. If you have a dvd player on your computer what you can do is click "print screen" on your keyboard and then go to a graphic program and paste it and resize it. But if you cannot do that I dont know.

Well, I don't even have a DVD player on the computer, just a CD-Rom. I thought about getting a digital camera instead, but they're too expensive for my budget.

A digital camera wont take good pictures of a screen, the best thing to do is to play dvds on the computer and take captures using the capture functions in the software. Its usually free with a dvd rom drive or burner which are very cheap these days, atleast here.

Yeah, but wouldn't that also require a scanner? Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner.

That doesn't sound too hard. I have a friend who has a DVD-Rom on his computer, maybe I could try that.

You dont need a scanner or printer. the print screen button captures whatever is on the screen and prints it to the system clipboard so if you use a copy and paste function in some graphics software it should come up. Its usually easier to just click the capture button in the dvd player software, it usually captures it to a file, depends how you have it set up though.

I used media player classic to take these http://photobucket.com/albums/a338/Fragglepics/

I got it from a free download site (didn't keep the address). But i do already have a dvd player in my pc. I would say it's a pretty good option, I found with trying to print screen from many copywritten dvds it will only display the image as long as you have the dvd in and you can't transfer the image at all.

Wow, I have video editor, so that could work, BUT, I don't have anymore Whose Line footage to take pics of, and I have a short list of episodes I'd like to screencap.
