OK, got questions for whoever can answer them about characters that I think were at least voiced by Ruth Buzzi.

1 We all know about Ruthy (or is it spelled Ruthie?) from her years on the Street as the owner of the Finders Keepers store.
BTW: That was a great game show.

2 Then there's the Pied Piper of 57th Street.
3 Was the Grouch Princess performed by Ruth Buzzi as well? And was it her in costume or was it a Muppet character?
4 Then there's this character named Gladys from a sketch where Cookie Monster wanted some cookies, she had 0 cookies cause that was the number of the day for that episode, and he ended up eating her pocketbook. Was Gladys performed by Ruth Buzzi in costume? Or was Gladys a Muppet character?
5 And finally, what about Ruthie or Ruthy the Song Lady who sung and performed a live version of the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Was she Miss Buzzi in costume again? Or was this another Muppet character?
Please reply ASAP to make the proper additions to my listings. Thanks for your help and have a good day.

I wasn't in SS land during the Ruth Buzzi years, but from your description in #4 (Gladyis) (sp), I believe that was Ruth Buzzi.

Was she wearing a brown dress with something on her head and a purse?

That is her classic character named Gladys (sp)

She played that character during her stint on Laugh-In (1968-1973) and it was a very popular character. She would usually hang out with this old man character (can't remember his name) on a park bench. He would make passes at her and she would hit him with her purse. She sounded sad and grumpy at the same time with little wise cracks during the famous "party sequence" that was featured in Laugh-In.

What a great show that was.

His name is Artie Johnson.
I loved that show as well. Unfortunately, the only time that I got to see it was on Nick-At-Nite in the 80's and I have a feeling that some items were edited.

Thanks for your help billyk, the sketch where Ruth Buzzi appeared as a character named Gladys was one shown on Noggin as part of Season 31 this past week. The episode was sponsored by the letter J and the number 0. Unfortunately, I don't know what happened in that episode since I missed out on the street's storyline. Can't rully say what she looked like in that sketch where she got pestered by Cookie Monster cause of my partial blindness which doesn't allow me to see images on a TV or computer screen. However, she did sound somewhat grumpy during the whole scene until Cookie Monster got the better of her and ended up eating her pocketbook/purse.

Can you help with the other characters I'm asking about, chiefly Ruthie or Ruthy (however it's spelled correctly) the Song Lady and the Grouch Princess? Thanks for your help and have a good day.

PS: Your screen name's the same as the coach for my favorite NFL team.

no idea either.
I'm guessing that the character never really had a name like "Furn Farkle" and was just "old man" or "dirty old man".

So Sweetums74, since you're the only other person posting here, could you help answer my questions as to Gladys, the Grouch Princess, and Ruthie or Ruthy the Song Lady? Just re-read the first post in this thread and post your answers. Thanks for your help and have a good day.

Sorry, Count. I'm familiar with the Street from the 70s, but any human characters from the 80s through the present day I'm not up to speed on. Just an example, I had no idea that Michael Jeter was on Sesame Street until he died.

I'm sure someone on here will have the answers you are looking for.

The old man's (that harassed Gladyis (Ruth Buzzi's character)), name was Tyrone. Not sure if he had a last name though.

Can you guys help me out with the Grouch Princess and the Song Lady charactrs? Basically, I'm asking if these were characters performed by Ruth Buzzi? And if so, were they Muppet characters? Or were they human characters performed by Miss Buzzi in costume? Thanks for your help and have a good day.
