Wow! The man who made the Landstriders possible! Circus, puppetry, acting, journalism, academics -- an amazing career path, indeed:
Robbie Barnett (also known as Robert J. Barnett) was a performer for one of the Landstriders and for the Mystic Numerologist in The Dark Crystal. He was one of the influences on the Landstriders' movement, having had experience in stilt walking. He also worked on the Jim Henson films The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppet Christmas Carol, and Muppet Treasure Island. Barnett has also acted in various British television projects. The focus of Barnett's professional life since the 1980s, however, has been his work as a journalist and scholar focusing on Tibet. He is the founder and director of the Modern Tibet Studies Program at Columbia University, contributes regularly to various news outlets, and runs a number of educational programs in Tibet.

Robbie is here in his capacity as BBC expert adviser on China and Tibet. He talks about Tibet politics at [7:57 - 10:00], Tibet people at [21:44 - 22:33] and of his work with Jim Henson at [26:31 - and 30:07].

Here's the article from recent Great Con-Junction convention mentioned in the program, with more of his bio.
