RIP Shelley Winters

The legendary actress died today at age 85. Winters is best remembered in movies such as "The Posieden Adventure" and her award-winning role as Petronella Van Daan in "The Diary of Anne Frank". For me, though, she will always be remembered as Lena Gogan in "Pete's Dragon". She will be greatly missed.

Correct; never a big "Roseanne" watcher, but I did a little research, and the character's name was Nana Mary.

I have a Shelly Winters story:

I was working at Disney during the filming of Pete's Dragon. I was sitting in the commisary, eating lunch by myself. Shelly Winters was at the table next to me, in full costume. Suddenly, she thrusts a ketchup bottle at me and says, "Open this!". She didn't ask, didn't know who I was... just ordered me to open the bottle. I opened the bottle. I guess I was so stunned, I don't even remember if she said, "Thank you."

That is sad. The Diary Of Anne Frank is one of my favourite movies, I dont know why I just like it, it has such a good yet sad and true story.

I'll always think of her as Mrs. Gogan too. Pete's Dragon is one of my all-time favorites, and she was hilarious.

Shelley also did the voice of Crystal. Frosty the Snowman's wife in two specials. Frosty's Winter Wonderland and Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July. She will be missed.
