Some may know him as the Artful Dodger from the original movie version of the classic musical "Oliver!". Some may also know him as Jimmy from "H.R. Pufnstuf", but Jack Wild, has died yesterday at the age of 53 due to years of heaving smoking and drinking, which earlier resulted in throat cancer and the removal of his tongue.

We'll miss you, Jack!

I was very sad to hear about Jack Wild's passing. I knew him from H.R. Pufnstuf, but he really endeared himself to me with his performance of the Artful Dodger in the movie musical Oliver, a childhood favorite of mine. He hadn't been well off for so long, so I can only assume that his passing was a true release from an unbearable pain and suffering. He's surely much happier wherever he is now, picking pockets and playing with dragons with no more dark tomorrows on the horizon...

Goodness. Was he really 53? I hadn't stopped to realize how much he had grown up. The images of him as Jimmy and the Dodger are so firmly entrenched in my mind.
I am sorry to hear he had to die as a result of heavy drinking and smoking complications though.
And my condolences go to all the fans he had.
