Er Snowth... Davy himself was indeed British... But the Monkees as a band were actually formed to be the USA's American answer/counterpart to the Beatles.

*Will now have Daydream Believer stuck in my head for the rest of this Leap Day.
Sad day indeed.

Heard about this on the way over here. Sad indeed. I met him once in the mid-'80s at a Tampa city birthday party, where he and (if I recall right) Peter Tork were playing a concert on the street as part of the festivities. Nice guy.

Of course as a kid I was totally encrushed with him. My first "fan fiction" at about age 8 or 9 was a story about Davy being turned into a turkey and having to be saved from Thanksgiving by his Monkee buddies. (Yes. I have always been The Weird Kid.)

I shall have to go find some friends to do the Monkee walk in public with in his honor.

Loved the Monkees! Loved their show. Loved their music. Loved Davy, Mickie, Mike and Peter. Really sad to see his passing.

When I was a tween I had longish hair like them and wore a stocking cap everywhere in an attempt to be like Michael Nesmith. LOL

This is sad news. Seems he had the best voice of all the Monkees. "Daydream Believer" is one of my favorite songs from the group.

I saw the Monkees in concert in 1997, shortly after I had started seeing the show.
