I decided I wanted my Colbert puppet, which will be, if my crazy plan comes even remotely close to fruition, the most viewed thing I've yet done, to be as close to perfect as I can possibly make it. As such I'm redesigning, going to order some of the nice reticulated foam to do my very first "naked" face puppet.

This is what the design is:

I'm thinking of making the forehead jut out over the eyes, and gluing eyebrows on top of the bottom of the forehead. Then I'll have small metal rods extending back to where I'll be able to move them, sliding the eyebrows up and down. I'm hoping that the "socket" I'm going for will help give a good range of facial features.

He'll have legs, too, though that's not in this drawing.

What do you think?

Beautiful work! What is this for? I am looking forward to seeing this creation. Will you be sending his show a copy of your work?

It's a longform attempt to get him to appear on dotBoom. I explain it here:

http://www.blog.hoggworks.com/blog/2007/12/19/25-promotional-things/

But the gist is that I'm making the puppet, filming some kind of "Colbert Puppet Challenge" and trying to get him to appear on the show (to voice the puppet) in exchange for the puppet itself. I'm also hoping to get some good media attention out of it.

Thank you for the kind words, by the way.
