Even though street scenes on Sesame are usually considered to be sacred and unable to be aired after one or two runs, I have actually seen some street segments that were occasionally repeated several seasons down the line. One of them is a street scene where David gets Big Bird and the kids together to play an "Animal Guessing Game". This segment was shown a few times in the 80's, but it is easy to tell that it was from the 70's because David is very thin and has sideburns. They also showed an earlier clip of David singing to the kids in the street about life on his Grandmother's farm. David was still rather thin in this clip, but it was shown in the middle of an episode where he had an enormous amount of weight. Another street clip that was often replayed was Don Music moving a piano into Hooper's store while David is there. It seems like street skits with David got replayed the most often, but there were probably others. It seems like the rules were that the character had to still be on the show and it had to be a street segment that could stand on its own.

You would be surprised how many of these there were in the 80s.

There was one from Season 17 where Snuffy brought his "portable" TV to Big Bird's nest, and Snuffy, Big Bird, and the kids all did the Jane Snuffle-upagus workout. Apparently, it was part of a street story with Big Bird spending the day with Snuffy. Nothing big or anything.

Another one from Season 17 was where Snuffy was dressed as a cloud, and sang a song called "I Wish I Was a Cloud in the Sky." I think it ran until 1994, believe it or not. You could tell that both of these were from the 80s, because they both had the long-gone barrels in Big Bird's Nest area.

There was even another one that took place in the fixit shop, and Maria and Luis were reading a book (I forget the title.) I actually have this episode on tape, but the first street scene was reused as an insert until 1990, believe it or not.

And there was one in Season 22 that was a song about the library. You could tell that it was part of a street story, because even if it were in the middle of the show, Gordon came out of 123, and said, "Oh, hi. Welcome to Sesame Street." And I would assume it originally had the harmonica music.

Can you think of any others?

I remember a few. I remember seeing C3PO and R2D2 on street segments, but the original ep aired before I was born, so they must just have been recycled segments. Also, I remember an ep where Cinderella comes out of the story book and there's a scene in that ep where she's reading to the two headed monster which has been seen in quite a few other shows.
