ok, so this is probably a really dumb question..but..i was just curious if anyone could tell me why no networks have re-ran all five seasons of The Muppet Show -is it because they are unaware of the great fan base, or because they tried to bring it back conceptually with Muppets Tonight or perhaps because the company was more invested in other projects? i was just wondering if anyone knew why- i realize that Time Life has some of the episodes collected- i would just love to watch it all over again like i did as a little girl- *sigh* thanks for your time!

I have no clue, but I think it would be a good idea to write to some cable networks that could probably afford access to TMS. (Ex: Nickolodeon, ABC Family, Disney) I agree with you. 42 eps just isn't enough. (I say 42 instead of 45, because Timelife gyped me out of vol. 6 and I can't reorder because of bad credit.)

There are so many more I'd like to see, such as:

:embarrassed: 's "Good grief! The Commedian's a Bear" sketch.
The one where  fires  !
The first Vet's Hospital sketch where Richard Hunt does :flirt: 's valley-girl voice and where Frank performs both Piggy and :embarrassed: , etc.

Hey, Phil pays for these smilies on this site. I have to get use out of them somehow. Lol.

I'm assuming a big part of it is the price Henson (or whoever owns the show's rights) charges for the episodes. Common sense seems to indicate that if the price were low enough SOME channel would pick it up. The shows have an established fanbase and there's definitely enough episodes. Cost must be an issue.

Also, part of the problem may be finding a network whose theme fits the Muppets. I'm pretty sure Disney owns the majority of the shows on the Disney Channel. If they'd bought the Henson company, I can guarantee the Muppets would've been all over the Disney channel. The Muppet Show needs to be promoted as for kids or for adults (as nostalgia), but probably not the teen/pre-teen market that ABC Family caters to. Nickelodeon might work as part of Nick at Nite. What about a channel like Pax or even Bravo?? Or one of the "superstations" like TBS or WGN?

Here's where you can find a couple of those skits:

"The comedians a bear!" is on "Fozzie's Muppet Scrapbook"

Kermit firing Piggy is on "The Kermit & Piggy Story"

You can find these old videos (by Playhouse video) on eBay, if you're lucky.

Yeah, thanks. Unfortuanately, as I mentioned before my credit isn't very good, so I won't be able to afford them now. Maybe, when I graduate and get a job, I'll be able to afford those tapes. Thanks again for the info.
