I know I just asked this in another thread about Don Sahlin, but how did Raul Julia die? It was obviously untimely.

Actually Hayes, the actor known as Raul Julia died in the mid 1990's while filming two completely different movies. And I should know, since his death was heavily covered down here in Puerto Rico from whence the actor hailed.
What happened was that he had been tapped to play the role of M. Bison in the live action movie version of Street Fighter, and as the labor leader Caesar Chavez in an HBO bio-pic named The Burning Season.
During filming of the HBO movie, he contracted a deadly brain cancer which ravaged his body almost instantly, thus prompting the producers of both his last two films to employ CGI techniques. There's a nice tribute at the end of Street Fighter, if you get the chance to rent it. I remember from when I had better sight... at the end of the movie, there's a black screen with the message: "For Raul, Vaya con Dios."
Oh, if you're interested, there's an early movie of his that gets shown as an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, called Overdrawn at the Memory Bank.
Hope this helps and have a good day.
