Just an update:

I got utilities last Sunday night (finally), but there are still a few around town without lights.

I also discovered that the time without utilities could have been shortened, but the electricians of Memphis Light Gas and Water are unionized, and they wanted to keep the work for themselves, making time-and-a-half.

So, what does this mean? They won't charge (obviously) for the time we were without lights, but soon (and you can bet on it) they're going to go up on our rates!

They had offers from local cities who were wanting to come in and help, and MLGW said no.

In other news, a storm came through last night and my lights flickered. Can you guess how nervous I got???! Tues July 22 through August 3 without lights or air...eek!!

That could've been bad.
