Joseph Wapner, who oversaw the courtroom proceedings on The People's Court from 1981 to 1993, has died earlier today at age 97.

I've got to see the gamut of People's Court judges over the years: Wapner, Mayor Ed Koch, Jerry Scheindlin (Judge Judy's husband), Marilyn Milian.

As far as court tv shows go, this is as legit as it gets. Better than most of the bullcrap that pollutes Judge Judy.
