Question about Gillis

What, exactly, is Gillis’ role on Fraggle Rock? Muppet Wiki describes him as “the resident musician of Fraggle Rock.” But Gobo and Wembley reside in Fraggle Rock, and I think of them as musicians — Gobo plays the guitar, and Wembley plays the bongos.

I know that Gillis conducted a group of singing Fraggles (and other creatures) in the episode “Uncle Matt Comes Home.” And in “A Tune for Two,” he was the organizer for the Duet-a-Thon, a contest in which Fraggles sing duets. But I don’t recall him doing either of those things in any other episodes.

Or is Gillis a Minstrel who unites the Rock with music while staying at home instead of wandering around?
