Question about Editing Posts

I was just wondering what's the usual time lapse for editing your posts? I ask because I notice sometimes, it seems like time to edit your post runs out within a matter of minutes, whereas other times it seems like your post will be up all day long and the edit button is still there.

So, what's the average time limit for post editing?

I've noticed that it's always 3 hours for me...
