The Concerned Kids in Toronto Canada are looking for volunteers who would like to be trained as puppeteers. This is a great volunteer organization here who has been educating children, young people and adults about social concerns through puppetry for more than thirteen years.

They need:
----------
- Approximately 35 volunteers willing to make a firm commitment for one half day per week from September until June (approximately 30 performances, plus training in September and October).

You Need To Be:
---------------
- Energetic and enthusiastic! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
- Willing to participate in a highly physical volunteer position which requires a certain amount of agility and flexibility.
- Physically able to hold a puppet (weighing 3-4 pounds on your hand) for a period of up to 45 minutes, the length of a performance.
- Able to crouch and/or stand freely while holding a puppet on one hand for extended periods of time.
- Able to memorize a script efficiently.
- A dramatic flair is advantageous.
- Willing to travel across the GTA and surrounding area, including Mississauga, Brampton and York Region schools.

A car is an asset, but not necessary.
-----------------------------------
What you’ll learn during training:
- Puppetry Skills like: Mouth synchronization, gestures, eye focus and posture of the puppet
- Character development
- Voice characterization and projection
- Breathing techniques and physical warm-ups to prevent muscle strain
- School procedures
- Story-telling … and MORE!

Please note: Training is exclusive only to volunteers who are planning to commit one half day per week during the school year to The Concerned Kids.

More information about this great organization is available on their Web site at www.theconcernedkids.com.

Unfortunately they are really only able to accept volunteers in the Greater Toronto Area but if you or someone you know is local and interested contact their co-ordinator Livia Pravato at (416) 636-1656 or livia@theconcernedkids.com.
