Well, I can't rully think of what to say here, so I'll make it short and sweet,

Posting in good ways with good typing form is a most good way to make friends here on MC.

Hi, all.

You know I'll be closing this thread because there's not a lot of positive feelings going on here.

First of all, I'll say that i'm always amused when a thread about spelling and grammar has mispellings and the grammar isn't what it should be! HA HA!! That always makes me laugh.

Secondly, some small typos are expected because folks are in a hurry sometimes (like ME, who posts from work). It doesn't bother me when the occasional apostrophe is misplaced or "the" is spelled as "teh."

Thirdly, when posting on the internet, in e-mails, and in instant messages there are certain rules people should follow. The abbreviations show laziness, so I try not to use "u" for "you" and so on; in IMs, however, sometimes I have to be lazy because I'm always so buys--so I expect others may have to do that on occasion as well.

You also don't want to write the way you talk. You should write e-mails, PMs, IMs, and posts as if you're working on a book for which you'll make thousands of dollars as people read it because, when you go to a message board, you are reading what others write.

Therefore, you might have a particular signature-style in writing and that is not necessarily a good argument when posting for others to read because I'm one who will skip a post that does not have paragraphs or is full of abbreviations or misspellings.

Another reason for practicing good writing isn't just to appease your fellow forum mates, but because one day you're going to need those skills in school/college classes and then in the business industry. Why not maintain the good writing practices that you are required to use in real-life on the message boards?

And, when following up with people to be sure they're posting correctly: USE SPELLCHECK!! HA HA! Or, I will laugh at you.

Kev,
Mod.
